Packing Lists

Not all family vacations are relaxing… but this one actually was. We traveled to Playa Mujeres, Mexico during the summer, looking for a safe, comfortable, and fun destination to unwind as a family. And honestly? It exceeded all our expectations.

We wanted something easy: a quick flight from South Florida, an all-inclusive resort, and plenty of options for both us and our 3-year-old. Playa Mujeres delivered all that — and more.

Getting There Was Part of the Fun

We flew non-stop from Miami to Cancun — just a short 1.5-hour flight, perfect when you’re traveling with a little one.
Pro tip: Bring a baby carrier on the plane — it gives you the freedom to be hands-free, especially if your child is still a lap infant. Also, timing the flight around your kid’s feeding schedule really helps with ear pressure during takeoff and landing. If they’re old enough, sugar-free lollipops work like magic!

Once we landed, transportation to the hotel was included in our booking — a small detail that made a big difference.

Where We Stayed

We stayed at Finest Playa Mujeres in a Junior Suite with a Private Pool — and yes, it was as amazing as it sounds. This resort is truly designed for families.

What We Loved
The all-inclusive setup made everything stress-free.

There were tons of food options, from expansive buffets to multiple à la carte restaurants.

The juice bar and ice cream shop were daily must-stops.

A wide range of included activities: beach, pool, sailing, fitness classes, arts & crafts, and nightly entertainment.

Room service was included, which meant we could enjoy lunch in our room or a swim while our son napped.

A Few Drawbacks
No reservations for dinner meant long wait times at popular restaurants.

Adult-only activities had limited spots, so you needed to arrive early to join.

Traveling with a Toddler

This time, we came prepared — and it made all the difference.
Some essentials we brought that made things easier:

Baby carrier ✅

Pool float ✅

Swim diapers (a must!) ✅

Lightweight stroller ✅

The resort was super kid-friendly. Our son loved the kids’ water park and kids club, where we spent most mornings. He got to make his own puppet, decorate shirts, and even craft bracelets. We left with handmade souvenirs we’ll actually treasure.

At night, we attended both the early kids’ shows and the later family-friendly performances. Once our little one went to bed, we’d unwind in our private pool. Pure bliss.

Since we never left the resort, our schedule revolved around whatever daily activities we felt like doing. We’d start the day at the splash area, grab a late breakfast, do some arts and crafts, nap time, then pool or beach in the afternoon, and dinner + show to wrap it up. It was simple — and perfect.

The trip (excluding airfare) cost us $2,978.64 for six sunny days and seven relaxing nights. For a high-end, all-inclusive resort packed with amenities and family-friendly perks, we found it totally worth it.

Playa Mujeres offered the perfect blend of relaxation, family time, and comfort. Even though we booked this trip during the uncertainty of the pandemic, we found a place that gave us peace of mind and a much-needed break in the sun.

If you’re looking for a vacation spot that’s easy with kids, luxurious but laid-back, and packed with things to do — I couldn’t recommend Finest Playa Mujeres more.
